Biography
Johannes Vermeer was born in Holland in 1632. While he would eventually be known as a famous Baroque-era painter, he gained little recognition during his lifetime. His work focused on middle class domestic scenes. Paul Hollister has written about Vermeer's portrayal of glass in his paintings. Vermeer died in 1675.
