Biography

H. P. Sinclaire Jr. was born in 1864 and played a significant role in the cut glass industry in the first quarter of the twentieth century. He started his career working for T. G. Hawkes & Co. (Corning, New York) in 1883 as a bookkeeper, but his business skills and artistic abilities allowed him to learn all aspects of the glass-cutting firm. Sinclaire started his own company, also in Corning, in 1904. The new company focused on engraving and sold its products throughout the country until Sinclaire's untimely death in 1927.
