Biography

John S. C. Martin was born in 1809 and lived in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, where he worked as a druggist (pharmacist). Much of his work involved the use of glass bottles for various products including mineral waters, porters, and ales. In addition to his job as a druggist, Martin was also an involved community member: he was the Secretary of the Ancient York Masons as well as the Director of Common Schools in the Pottsville District. Martin died in 1858.
