Biography
Born in 1957, Seth Randal is a sculptor and painter who graduated from the Parsons School of Design with a double major in Fine Arts and Lighting Design and Engineering. As a sculptor, Randal worked in the medium of glass, mastering kiln-casting and pate de verre. In 2006 he transitioned into painting, but continued to make glass objects for a time. He closed his glass studio in 2014.

Scope and Contents
The Seth Randal Studio Records consist almost exclusively of firing logs documenting the raw materials and firing times and temperatures used in creating kiln-cast and pate de verre objects. Of particular interest are Randal's color formulas used to achieve his signature reds and purples. In many cases, Randal made notes about the results of the process for future reference.
