Biography

Jane Shadel Spillman worked at The Corning Museum of Glass from 1965 to 2013. She held a variety of positions, most notably associate curator of American glass from 1978 until her retirement. Born in 1942, Spillman attended Vassar College (AB 1964) and Cooperstown Graduate Program (MA 1965).

Spillman is the author of many books and articles, including _The American Cut Glass Industry: T. G. Hawkes and His Competitors_ (1996) and _Mt. Washington & Pairpoint Glass, Vol. 2)_. She curated many exhibitions at The Corning Museum of Glass, including Glass from the World's Fairs (1986), Dining at the Whitehouse (1989), The Queen's Collection: DAnish Royal Glass (1996), and European Glass Furninshings for Eastern Palaces (2006).

Spillman has been professionally active in glass and museum associations as well, serving as editor of The Glass Club Bulletin.
