Biography

The L.G. Wright Glass Company was founded by Lawrence G. and Verna Mae Wright in 1938. Located in New Martinsville, West Virginia, the company purchased old molds for blown and pressed glassware, conveyed them to various glass manufacturers in the region, and commissioned the reproduction of antique American lamps, tableware, and drinkware. The company then distributed the reproductions to various retailers. L.G. Wright Glass Company sometimes altered the molds or commissioned new ones, and over time added an in-house decorating department to further customize its reproduction pieces. Verna Mae Wright operated the company independently after her husband's death in 1969. Verna Mae Wright's died in 1990, and the company was liquidated in 1999.
