Biography

Judson Studios was founded in 1897 in Los Angeles, California, by William Lees Judson. It became famous for its elaborate stained glass windows that were installed around the country, in churches as well as buildings designed by noted figures like Frank Lloyd Wright. Judson Studios also worked in tile and mosaics, but it was stained glass that gave the organization its reputation. In fact, Judson Studios had such a top-notch reputation that it was able to recruit the artist Frederick Wilson away from Louis Comfort Tiffany.
